C.G.L. NEWSLETTER 11-29-13 With Thanksgiving now a memory and 76 games already in the books the 2013-14 CGL Season heads into the Christmas Season with only 24 games on the schedule. I know what the deadlines are for instructions and results but, with only 12 home games, I am hoping for an early reporting month so we can all enjoy the Holidays without last minute CGL stuff getting in the way. After two months we have only one .300 hitter in CGL. Craig Gentry (IPA) leads the League in hitting at .302 with only four hitters in the .290’s. Giovanni Stanton (BH) and Josh Hamilton (DUL) pace CGL with 25 HR’s while Cory Hart’s (ITA) 55 RBI leads CGL. On the other side of the ball we have three Starters with ERA’s under 2.00. Madison Bumgarner (IPA) leads the CGL with a sparkling 1.78 ERA with Kyle Lohse (TEM) and Felix Hernandez (IT) hot on his heels. Jared Weaver (ELY) has already amassed 12 wins while King Felix Hernandez (ITA) has tossed 5 Shutouts. Two-time defending Champ Elyria owns the best record in CGL at 53-23 to lead Naples by nine games in the South. Brook Hollow has 50 wins and sits atop the East by 10 games over Westwind. The North and Central each have but one team over the .500 mark. Temperance holds the smallest lead in CGL (7 games) over Waikiki Beach and the ‘homeless’ Italian Stallions are eight games up on Dodge. The 2014 CGL Draft will be held in Duluth/Superior again next Spring. With only 10 months until I retire from the CN Railroad I am trying to save as much vacation as possible so I can say adios to my co-workers even earlier. The 2015 CGL Draft will definitely be ‘on the road’ at a site to be determined. That’s all I’ve got for now. Keep up the good work and Happy Holidays!! Rob
